Description
Two Mayan stand idly at a polling place wearing colorful clothes wait in line to vote and hats. Sitting in the background is another group of men waiting to vote. To the right of the image is an armed soldier standing. The government required every literate person over the age of eighteen to vote or pay a fine. They were told that they would be killed if they did not vote. Groups of Mayan men started lining up to vote at five in the morning.
