Description
The Methodist Episcopal Church served the largely Cornish population in Englishtown. The church sponsored many social activities. This building, constructed in the late 1880s at a cost of $3400, was the last of three churches built on the site. The Englishtown Methodist Episcopal Church (also known as the Wesleyan Methodist church) was built after two previous churches were destroyed by storms and fire. This building was erected for $3400, which was financed by contributions from the community and the mining company (Lanyon & Bulmore, 75).
