Two thousand homeless men and boys ate heartily of a Thanksgiving dinner they otherwise would not have had. The dinner was at the Union Rescue Mission, which served turkey with all the trimmings at its main hall, 226 South Main Street. Photo shows some of the diners, with Chief Chef Paul von Petzold helping dish up the food. In groups of 400 the diners attended a religious service and then took their places at the tables. Photo dated: November 24, 1938.
