Description
Photograph of a view of Old Town in San Diego from Presidio Hill, showing the ruins of the old jail in the foreground, ca.1898. A short, roofless adobe structure is pictured in the center foreground, the walls crumbling and eroded. Just past this, a narrow dirt road cuts across the image from the upper left to the lower right, positioned at the bottom of a gentle slope. In the background, an arrangement of buildings with wooden facades can be seen, including one with a long, narrow patch of property enclosed in a picket fence. A windmill is visible in the right distance, just in front of the hills.
