The first photograph caption dated July 14, 1960 reads, "Sen. John F. Kennedy acknowledges the cheers of the crowd as he appeared at Sports Arena after he won the Democratic Presidential nomination. 'We shall win!' he pledged in his brief remarks, pending formal acceptance in the Coliseum tomorrow night."; The second photograph caption dated November 3, 1963 reads, "Whose standards will the South carry in 1964? The scene above was in 1960 and in Los Angeles when Dixie stayed Democratic. But this is 1964 and much has happened, as witness the rise of the Republican's Barry Goldwater ... "
