Description
Republican Mural, Beechmount Avenue, West Belfast, 1989. Third of series of images representing colonial violence in Ireland; here prisoners violently placed on the 'conveyor belt of justice', beginning at Castlereagh Interrogation Centre, with torture at Crumlin Road remand jail, sentencing by Diplock (no-jury) Courts and ending with the Blanket Protest and Hunger Strikes in the H-Blocks. Mural has been paintbombed. Original mural painted 1981.
