Description
Photograph of beach groins, 1953. The long beach groins extend from the dirt-spotted beach on the right and disappear beneath the ocean on the left. These beach groins have jagged tops that resemble teeth. They appear to consist of rectangular slabs of cement leaned against each other with the moistened sand collecting on their sides. Photoprint reads "In this picture, taken on the southern California coast, you see how groins build out a beach as sand settles against them".
