Description
Photograph in front of the John H. Jones residence on Main Street looking north from Fifth Street, Los Angeles, ca.1888. Four men in suits and hats stand leaning against the fence that surrounds the John H. Jones residence, which later became the Rosslyn Hotel. Beyond the fence a small gazebo can be seen through a second barrier of topiary hedges and trees that are themselves obscured by tree foliage in the foreground. Three young boys also stand along the sidewalk in short pants and hats. Shop fronts along the street and several other pedestrians are visible in the distance, beyond the trees hanging in from the right.
