This postcard shows a crowd in front of the Venice Dance Hall, part of the design of Abbot Kinney, who created 16 miles of canals to replicated the feeling of Venice, Italy in Southern California. Complete with Venetian style buildings and gondolas, Kinney's Venice of America opened on July 4, 1905. On reverse: [in pencil] Dear Edith, Here we are at the beach having a fine time... The waves are big white curly ones. Postmark: 190-.
