Photograph article dated July 27, 1963 partially reads, "San Fernando police said today the jailing of seven persons has revealed the tangled story of a forgery ring operating in the North Valley. The key to a baffling seres [sic] of forgeries came when a woman member of the ring passed a bogus check to a San Fernando auto parts clerk - who also is a reserve lieutenant on the San Fernando police force. The clerk, Lt. Charles Hix, recognized the woman from police photos. Officers said her arrest triggered the round up of the gang."
