Description
Annotation translation: "Market place." - "The Chief's office [i.e. where writing is done]." Annotation: "Marktplatz." - "Schreiberei des Häuptlings." Note: "Im Vordergr. Wäsche aufgehängt." (E-30-0,4). - "Oben links sieht man die Reihen der Frauenhäuser. In der Mitte befindet sich der Marktplatz. Dieses Bild ist v. d. Strasse her aufgenommen, die noch heute v. Palast zur Mission u. weiter Richtung Bamenda führt." (Ch. M. Geary, E-30-0,7 und E-30-0,8). Note translation: "In the foreground: washing hung up to dry." (E-30-0,4). - "At the top left one sees the rows of houses for the [King's] wives. In the centre of the image is the market place. This photograph was taken from the street which still leads from the palace to the [protestant] mission and then goes on towards Bamenda." (C. M. Geary, E-30-0,7 and E-30-0,8).
