This is a video recording of sessions with Peter Drucker regarding responsibility based management at Edward Jones. Jim Weddle provides an introduction, explaining that responsibility based management “helps associates focus their work and link their contributions to the firm’s objectives.” Drucker then answers questions regarding the future of the financial service industry, the importance of challenging people, and recommendations for downward responsibility. Drucker discusses methods of learning, and states that no American president is both a reader and a listener. According to Drucker, Franklin Roosevelt, Lyndon B. Johnson, and Ronald Reagan better absorbed information by listening, while Harry S. Truman, Dwight D. Eisenhower, and John F. Kennedy were readers (Kennedy could listen to Robert Kennedy, however).
