View of the Raymond Hotel on fire in Pasadena. Smoke can be seen above the roof of the hotel. The hotel was a wood framed Victorian with a shingled roof and 80 chimneys. On Easter Sunday, 1895, a spark from a chimney set the roof on fire and the hotel and all its contents burned to the ground in 40 minutes. At the time there were 165 guests staying at the hotel, but since most were at church no one was hurt.
