Description
V1p335c In PHOTO ALBUM-VAULT: ** fc917.9461 A3, Vol. I, page 335 bottom. This photograph is contained in one of two volumes by Dobbin titled "Album of San Francisco." Text written to right of photo: "Homes and Business places erected by Fire Refugees on the hill back of the Protestant Orphan Asylum 1906." View shows tents and hastily assembled wooden structures. The tent in the center is occupied by a boot repairman, advertised by a sign showing a boot and reading "Repairing Neatly Done." Three men in the background appear to be about to put up another structure. A woman is looking on. The Orphan's Asylum building can be seen in the right distance.
