This school was located on the southwest corner of the intersections of Woodman Ave and Riverside Drive (foreground) and may have been part of the McKinley Home for Boys. It was discovered in the late-1950s that the building was not seismically safe and was razed in the early-1960s to make way for Fashion Square. Photograph article dated April 11, 1960 reads, "Safety Check - Police, school officials and PTA members, center keep watchful eye on traffic as students arrive at Woodman Avenue Elementary School. Traffic snarls resulted when new section of Ventura Freeway, background, opened April 5. PTA members and school officials alike have requested crossing guards. Police say they will make traffic counts."
