Description
Photograph of an exterior view of the Union Sugar Factory in Santa Maria, ca.1910. The factory consists of a compound of several large buildings. A massive, seven-story high brick building is in the background at right. In the background at left, two wide, low, light-colored buildings are visible. The building further in the foreground has eight smokestacks protruding from its roof, and four more stacks are visible in the distance. There are railroad tracks leading to the building at right, and a tanker car and several boxcars are visible. A boxcar is parked off the tracks at left. Legible signs on the railroad cars include, from left to right, "24412 Furniture", "Southern Pacific Sunset Route", "S.P.N.M. 15571", " Chicago and North-Western RY", and "S.P. 55904".
