Description
Seabiscuit is shown here upon his return to Santa Anita, where he will be honored on Thursday, at which time a life-sized statue of him will be unveiled. It was at this track nearly a year ago that the 'Biscuit won the Santa Anita "hundred grander" to become the greatest money winner of all time, with earnings of $437,730. The turf champion is seen with his owners, Mr. and Mrs. Charles S. Howard, upon his arrival yesterday. Photo date: February 3, 1941. Later Seabiscuit died suddenly over the May 17-18, 1947 weekend of a heart attack at the Howard Ridgewood Ranch, where he had been retired to stud after winning the 'Anita Cap' in 1940.
