Description
Gail Gifford. Caption reads, "US Sen. Alan Cranston swears in Gail Gifford of Fairfield as a member of the US Marine Corps to become the third woman to join the Marine Band. The band is known as "the President's Own" because of its close association with US presidents over the years. Miss Gifford, a cum laude graduate of California State University at Sacramento, will play the flute and piccolo. Joining in the ceremony is Capt. E.P. O'Neil, right, director of recruiting in Sacramento."
