On October 7, 1957, Walter O'Malley announced that he was moving the Dodgers west and that he would build a new stadium on land in Chávez Ravine. Here, a Herald-Examiner reporter points out the future location of home plate. The police academy can be seen in the far background. Photograph dated October 7, 1957.
