Description
Champagne nylon lace evening dress with matching satin lining/underdress, belt and jacket. Sleeveless, one-piece tank-style dress with scoop neckline, minimal waist shaping, and no waist seam; long skirt flares into an uneven, pointed, handkerchief-ruffle at the hem. Underdress sewn to the lace overdress at the neckline and bustline only, and is shaped into a curve over each breast, making a heart-shaped edge in front and back, leaving the sheer lace over the shoulders; hem is longer than the overdress skirt, and is edged with a wide flounce of matching tulle, which supports and shows below the lace ruffle on the overdress. Matching belt is a simple tie made of the champagne lace, lined with pink, fastens with small metal snaps, with a pointed end, and is not attached to the dress. Jacket is also made of the champagne lace, is unlined, shaped with tiny darts at the shoulder, ends just below the waist in points all around the body, and has 3/4-length sleeves that end in points over the arm. Note with the dress reads: "evening dress worn by Carolyn Hargan Leland early 1930s. Off the gold standard. Not my mother."
