Photograph caption dated October 25, 1948 reads, “Some of the first 21 Los Angeles draftees are shown taking examinations at the Army and Air Force Recruiting Services’ new station here. The group also took physical examinations. Among the 21 were four Japanese, one Chinese and Korea. Col. Leslie W.W. Jefferson and Major L.V. Smith supervised the examination of the group at 155 West Washington boulevard.”
