Watercolor drawing of the three-masted American sailing vessel, the "Louisiana", leaving the port of Marseilles; shows two men on rigging, six men below; other ships in the background, fortress at left in the distance.
Capt. Wm. S. Emery sailed around the Horn in the fall of 1849; arrived in San Francisco early in 1850.
