Description
View 1 (2002-0216) -- view 2 (2016-3093). View of fire truck wrecked on its side in the street surrounded by men and boys. Negative, no. 23,849 (4 x 5 in.) Chemical Engine No. 2 was stationed at 22nd St. at S and T Streets. Driven by Patrick Hayes (August Steen was pipeman), overturned on Feb. 16, 1914 at the corner of 10th and S Streets trying to avoid hitting a butcher wagon driven by Clarence Cuddy. Engine was on way to fire at 11th & X Streets -- Sacramento Bee, Feb. 16, 1914, p. 1, c. 5.
