Charlotte Perkins Stetson Gilman was born in Connecticut in 1860. Wrote short stories, novels and poetry. Beginning in 1890 toured Europe and the United States lecturing on ethics, economics, and sociology. Was feminist and suffragette, lecturing during the 1890's. Edited several magazines, Impress (organ of Woman's Press Association), and Forerunner, a feminist magazine. Died in 1935.
