Photograph of "Wedding of the rails", a re-enactment of the ceremony celebrating the connection of Los Angeles and San Francisco by the Southern Pacific Railroad, showing a man making an announcement from the railroad tracks, 1926. The man stands on the tracks at center in a dark suit and hat with a metal cone to his mouth to amplify his voice. The crowd stands on the other side of the tracks with many people in costume. A couple is dressed as Native Americans, a group next to them is dressed as Mexicans and the group on the left is dressed in western dresses and suits. Boys watch the reenactment from a small structure in the background on the right. Hills stand behind them in the distance.
