Description
Title supplied by cataloger.
Ybarra Adobe, also known as Casa Ybarra, was built in 1841 and was located on Puente Road on the Rancho Rincon de la Brea. Originally belonging to Don Luis Ybarra, it was later owned by members of his family. Many years later, it was sold to Mrs. Walter Hardwick of Los Angeles. In May 1936, the adobe was occupied by Luis Reyes and his family.
Luis Ybarra and family gathered outside, at what is possibly the Ybarra adobe, but not confirmed. A guitarist, possibly Luis Ybarra, plays under a tree while family is gathered around. A prickly pear cactus is visible in the foreground, and a birdhouse is in the center of the courtyard. Photograph circa 1895.
