Description
V1p421b In PHOTO ALBUM-VAULT: ** fc917.9461 A3, Vol. I, page 421 bottom. This photograph is contained in one of two volumes by Dobbin titled "Album of San Francisco." Text written under photo: "The City from Bush & Kearney [sic] looking North & West. 1. California Hotel 2. Fairmont Hotel [3] Senator Stanford and 3. Mark Hopkins residence. 4. St. Mary's Church etc., 1903. 5. Evening Bulletin office. Bush St. above Kearny." This photo was actually taken from the roof of a building on the west side of Montgomery just north of Sutter. The taller white building immediately to the right of the California Hotel is at the southeast corner of Bush and Kearny. The numbers in the text correspond to numbers written on the photo. In addition, Temple Emanu-El and the office of Goldberg, Bowen & Co. are at the left. The Nathan-Dohrmann Company is visible at the lower right.
