Photograph caption dated April 9, 1956 reads, "The giant new Hughes Market and shopping center at Devonshire and Balboa, Granada Hills, was crowded with shoppers following its opening. Left to right at the ribbon cutting ceremonies are Bob Shultz, supervisor for Hughes Markets; Fred Vogt, market supervisor; Miss Jane Howard, Universal International starlet; Bob Wilkinson, city councilman; Jim Henry, director of personnel, and Joe Hughes, owner."
