Description
Group photograph of John Studebaker's return to Placerville in April of 1912. Studebaker had invited old friends - group is shown in front of Ohio House, where formal dinner was held. John Studebaker is fifth man from the left in front row.

Born in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania in 1833. Arrived in California in 1853 where settled in Placerville (Hangtown) working for a blacksmith's shop making wheelbarrows. Returned home in 1858 where established the Studebaker Wagon Company with brothers. Died in 1917.
