Recollections of his father, Hubert H. Bancroft; his early law practice in San Francisco; his interest in politics- particularly the graft prosecution in San Francisco, the gubernatorial campaign of 1910, the start of the Progressive Party, and his 1938 campaign as Republican candidate for U.S. senator; his experiences fruit and nut farming in Walnut Creek- with marketing cooperatives, farmer organizations (including the Associated Farmers) and attempts by unions to organize farm labor.
