Description
V1p268a -- v1p268b In PHOTO ALBUM-VAULT: ** fc917.9461 A3, Vol. I, page 268 top and center. These photographs are contained in one of two volumes by Dobbin titled "Album of San Francisco." Text written between photos: "Celebration, completion of Locks Panama Canal, Union Square 1913." Two views of the celebration at the base of the Dewey Monument in Union Square. In both photos a sign proclaiming the "Panama Pacific Exposition, San Francisco, 1915" can be seen draped between the flags on the monument, along with a table for the Western Union Signal Wire. In the top photo a little girl and a naval officer are holding a flag, with sailors positioned behind. In the center photo someone is speaking, with army personnel in formation to the right. The Plaza Hotel and the Fredericks Building are visible in the background.
