Photograph caption dated August 7, 1964 reads, "Det. Sgt. H. W. Thornton signs a release for four pints of rare O-Negative type blood from the Valley Red Cross blood depot. Volunteer Edythe Solon, left, and Depot Supervisor, Joseph Holguin, wait for receipt. A Sheriff's Department helicopter picked up the blood, to be used for a man in the Loma Linda Men's Facility security ward."
