Description
This discussion by Robert Finch, counselor to President Nixon, the second US president from California, is about the diversity of themes seen in state elections in the atypical and unique non-presidential election year of 1970. He sees the possibility of an entire generation of uninterrupted peace. In this light, he proposes a domestic peacetime agenda that addresses health care, education, and welfare. This agenda can be achieved if a new social consensus can be forged. Robert H. Finch earned his BA and MA in southern California, was lieutenant governor of California from 1967 to 1969, and secretary of Health, Education and Welfare from 1969 to 1970. Program Number: 19701023.
