Description
A view of a bedroom of the house in Mount McGregor in Wilton, New York, where President Ulysses S. Grant died in 1885. There is a fireplace on the far left, a bed in the back left corner, a table in the center of the room, and a chair and sofa on the right. There is a wreath resting on the back of the chair.
Title from verso, with further information reading "Represents the Parlor with the Bed placed in one corner, and where Gen. Grant died. Fourteen hours before death General Grant desired to lie down, the first time in ten months, and this bed was placed there at that time and has not since been disturbed. The clock on the mantle denotes the time as 8:08, stopped by Col. Fred Grant. The 'Chair,' draped, standing in the corner, is also noticed.
