Description
Composite image of Watts Riots (1965), Salazar or East Los angeles Riot (1972), Rodney King uprising (1992), an unidentified image form Siqueiros photographic archive, and a smoke cloud from the Los Angeles Fires (2003). The oldest image is at the bottom. The top image was taken by the artist during the 1995 fires in Los Angeles. The project grew out of an invitation to work with an image from the photographic archive of the Mexican muralist David Siqueiros. The work was part of a group exhibition held at REDCAT (Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Theater) in 2006.
