Description
Photograph caption reads, "Although Carl Lewis doesn't put anyone to sleep with his long-jumping ability, the Houston star didn't reach his, or the fans' hoped-for goal -- 29 feet -- during yesterday's special long jump at the ARCO-Jesse Owens Games. Lewis did win the event with a leap of 27-10 1/4. In the special 100 meter race, Evelyn Ashford produced the best-ever time at sea level, 10.93." Photograph dated: August 8, 1982.
