Elyn Saks discusses her book, “The Center Cannot Hold.” She begins by explaining that the reason she wrote the book was to give hope to those who suffer from schizophrenia and to help others better understand the condition. The book is the story of her own life and battle with her diagnosis. She goes on to discuss the differences between the British and American hospital systems, and the very “hands on” approach to psychology that she experienced in the United States. Also in this interview she shares the role her friends and family played in helping her through her struggle.
