Provost James Wilburn stands left as Pearl Williams accepts a plant from student Lovetrice Farrow on behalf of the black student association. Williams was honored for her service as a foster grandparent on her 106th birthday during Pepperdine University's annual Foster Grandparents' Day ceremonies. First Lady Betty Ford was a special guest at the event, which honored participants in the federal foster grandparent program administered by Pepperdine University. The event took place on Pepperdine's Los Angeles campus. complete;
