Photograph article dated March 28, 1956 partially reads, "Tom Solari, a Valley College student, beamed with pride when he was declared the 'ugliest man on campus.' Solari...took first place in the recent Ugly Man Contest, sponsored by Beta Phi Gamma, a national honorary journalism fraternity...The contest is held semi-annually to gain funds for the journalism department banquet held at the end of each semester."
