Travel Town, an outdoor museum in Griffith Park, Los Angeles, was dedicated in 1952. The Southern Pacific Company, was willing to donate an obsolete locomotive to be the first train on exhibit. The Los Angeles City Recreation and Park Department's museum is visited each week by hundreds of youngsters and adults who are interested in the development of transportation. The focus of the museum is rail transportation, but other items are on display. Photograph caption dated June 14, 1958 reads "Last steam engine to operate commercially in Los Angeles chugs into Griffith Park's Travel Town as Charles T. Brown, left, of Brown Engineering Contractors, and Charles Atkins, Travel Town developer, direct its placement for exhibit. Donation of reitred engine was made by Consolidated Rock Company."
