Description
1989-1232. In: [Scenes of Sacramento] [manuscript] / Eugene Walter Hepting. [Sacramento, Calif. : E. Hepting, 1938?], Vol. C, leaf 22. A view of Sutter's Fort from the end side and showing the right side view of the structure; it stands in the background; in the foreground is a field of grass with a man and two smaller people to his right looking up at the fort; on the right is a large leafy tree and on the left another grove of trees in the middle distance. Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento. "Old Slough which ran in front of Sutter's Fort, filled in a short time later after this picture was taken."
