Description
This May 1939 photograph captures several flag-waving riders, all of whom are part of the May 1939 World's Fair Rodeo Parade. They make their way easterly, down K Street. A lead rider holds a flag inscribed with the words "World's Fair Rodeo Treasure Island May 12 through 14, 1939." Trailing riders wave flags, representing nearby states, including Nevada and Oregon. In the distance is the Fox Senator Theater. Its marquee announces the playing of "Sergeant Madden," starring Wallace Beery. Visible businesses are the Fox Senator Theater at 912 K Street, the Capital Clothing Company at 916 K Street, Walgreen's Drugs at 930 K Street, and the Hotel Sacramento at the corner of Tenth and K Streets.
