Photograph article dated July 4, 1963 reads, "Lois Vandeventer, Burbank conchologist...a housewife and mother, spends her weekends along the Pacific Coast digging under rocks and in the sand in search of shell specimens to add to her diverse collection. Her scientific interest in conchology began eight years ago with the purchase of a 35-cent package of shells...Today Mrs. Vandeventer is a member of two California shell clubs--the Pacific Shell Club and the Southern California Shell Club."
