Description
Article by Charles Handy exploring business institutions and the human spirit, and suggesting a philosophy of Proper Selfishness. Handy states that this new emphasis on selfishness transcends materialism, arguing that the freedom and choices which capitalism and liberal democracy make possible can instead be used to liberate more people to be free as well. Handy proceeds to contend that Proper Selfishness is a positive and optimistic philosophy because it hinges on the idea of inherent goodness in humanity.
