Description
Photograph caption dated August 26, 1955 reads, "Personnel director Mary Frances Curtis and store manager Norman F. Caldwell watch as workers hoist eight foot 'M' into place 92 feet high on Valley's new May Company store at Laurel Canyon and Oxnard boulevards. Merchandise is now arriving at location, largest suburban department store in West, and personnel is being hired."
