Black and white lantern slide featuring poor and starving Chinese men and women. This image may depict the human effect of the fighting and looting in Hankow in late 1911 that was to start the rebellion against the Qing Dynasty. This slide comes from a collection held by the Church of Scotland and generated by the medical missionary Charles Somerville, who worked for the London Missionary Society in Hankou from 1904 to 1914.
