Sally Rand at a hearing after battery charges were filed against her by Hazel Drain and C. R. Stanford, who are seeking $2,622 in damages. Drain and Stanford asserted that Rand jumped off stage after a performance at a theater on 6th and Hill streets then proceeded to scratch Stanford on the neck and tear his shirt; then allegedly, Rand bit Drain on her left arm and damaged her camera. Rand admitted to arguing with the two, but denied being violent or destroying the camera. She expressed that she objected to having photographs taken of her dancing. Photograph dated July 22, 1938.
