XIII], list of difficult names in the bible; f. 596v [added, s. XV], list of books of the bible with the number of chapters in each. In the usual order for thirteenth century French bibles and with the common set of 64 prologues (reversing the order of Stegmüller 500 and 507), as described by Ker, MMBL 1:96-97 regarding London, Lambeth Palace, MS 1364. Title from printed catalog. Support: Parchment. Script: Gothic. Layout: 1-10²⁴ 11¹⁶ 12¹⁸(through f. 273) 13-24²⁴ 25²² 26¹² 27⁴. 2 columns of 45 lines, ruled in lead, with top, middle and bottom 3 lines full across; additional double rules in all 4 margins; slash prick marks visible in the 3 outer margins of some leaves. Decoration: Eighty-two historiated initials of good quality, 10- to 7-line in blue or maroon on grounds of these colors with some gold, orange and green, and enclosed by narrow gold frames; border extensions with rinceau and biting animals. Other Decoration: 9- to 5-line initials in white-patterned blue and maroon, with touches of gold, orange and green; 2-line initials alternating red with blue flourishing and blue with red, and continuing into a red and blue cascade border. Artwork attributed by Branner, Manuscript Painting pp. 81 and 220 to the same atelier as Antwerp, Museum Plantin-Moretus, M 17.3. XVII, in limp parchment, with protective flaps over the fore edge and with the remains of 4 ties: one each at top and bottom, and 2 at the fore edge; scraps from a fifteenth century document used as reinforcement along the hinge in the inside front and back covers; rust marks from chain hasps on bottom center of opening and closing leaves; formerly bound in pink or red leather over boards, as seen from offset on f. 598v (former pastedown).
