Caption reads: "The 100-year-old Mosquito Bridge over the South Fork of the American River five miles northeast of Placerville is getting some new supporting timbers. Workmen are replacing 13 of the 18-foot-long beams by working from a swinging platform under the 130-foot-long suspension bridge. The $11,000 project is expected to be completed about Nov. 2. Until then, the bridge will be closed, at least during the daylight hours."
