Born in San Jose, Peggy Fleming moved with her family to Pasadena in the early 1960s. Skating in costumes designed and hand-sewn by her mother, Fleming became known for her elegant lines and graceful movements. After finishing sixth in the 1964 Olympics, she came back to win at the 1968 Olympics--the only American gold medallist at the Grenoble Games.
